Visa, Promsvyazbank and Smartfin Company introduce the innovative service for the bank card payments acquiring via mobile devices. This new technology under 2can trademark allows any trade and service outlet to use a smartphone or a tablet as a secure mobile device for payment reception via Visa cards everywhere at any time. It's enough to have a special reading device provided by Smartfin Company which can be connected to a phone or a tablet on the basis of Android 2.1 and higher and iOS 4.0 and higher, and the Internet connection.

This technical solution is much more affordable and convenient for merchants than conventional acquiring, because it doesn’t require significant expenses for the acquisition, configuration and maintenance of a payment terminal. 2can mobile devices provide new opportunities for shifting to non-cash payments in the segment of small, medium and micro business, as well as in the companies offering mobile services, such as messenger services, taxi and insurance agents.

“Today only 17%* of commercial enterprises serving individuals accept bank cards for payment. Therefore, Visa is permanently working to make Visa card payments not only comfortable and secure, but also available to consumers”, said Tatiana Sanders, head of the Department of network of Visa card acceptance development in Russia and the CIS. “The implementation of Visa card acceptance via 2can mobile devices provides great opportunities for the development of the infrastructure of Visa bank card acceptance within the limits of Russian market. We are confident that in the near future, thanks to mobile terminals, Visa cardholders will be able to pay for goods and services at the majority of points of sale, where now only cash is accepted”, she added.
Co-founder and CEO of Smartfin Nikolai Zhmurenko is fully confident: “2can handheld terminal will help small business to provide customers with a previously hard-to-get service of payment via bank card reception. Several millions of small and medium business enterprises lose their customers just because they don’t accept cards. In addition, 2can mobile terminal is truly mobile solution for business not tied to a fixed point of sale”.

Promsvyazbank stands as an acquiring bank of 2can mobile terminals. PSB is one of the leading Russian banks. “2can mobile terminal is an innovative service for Russia, which will transform the idea of card acceptance opportunities for small, medium and even microbusiness enterprises, and will allow customers to pay with a card even dealing with taxi drivers and online shops”, vice-president, board member of PSB Elena Makhota says.

For Visa cardholders this payment method has no difference from regular payment via payment terminal. To pay for purchases it’s necessary to swipe the Visa card through the reading device and to put a signature on the smartphone’s screen. On customer’s demand the terminal check can be sent to the email address of the cardholder or via SMS to his/hers cell phone. Visa cardholders can be confident in obtaining high level of security for payments via mobile device which does not store the information read from the card and sends it in encrypted form to the bank processing service.
